MP4 Downloader vs the big converter sites
The famous converter sites are fine — if you accept the accounts, the daily caps and the watermark upsells. Here is the honest trade-off, including where the big sites still win.

The usual deal elsewhere
The pattern at the big converter sites is consistent: the first conversion is free, the second wants an account, the third wants a subscription. File-size limits sit at 10–100 MB unless you pay. Downloads arrive with watermarks on free tiers, batch jobs are a premium feature, and every page carries more ads than tool. None of that is evil — servers cost money — but it is a toll booth on a job that should take twenty seconds.
What MP4 Downloader does differently
No account exists to sell you: there is no sign-up at all. The upload limit is 200 MB on the free (only) tier, results never carry a watermark, and standard tools have no daily caps. One short ad before each job pays the bills instead. The tradeoff we chose is breadth with depth: MP4 Downloader focuses on the conversions and downloads people actually do daily, and does them without the funnel.
Where the big sites still win
Honesty section: the giants support hundreds of exotic formats we do not, a few offer OCR for scanned documents (our PDF tools are honest about needing born-digital PDFs), and some have desktop apps for offline batch work. If you are converting CAD files or scanning archives all day, use them. For the everyday 95% — a video to MP3, a WEBP to JPG, a Word file to PDF — the toll booth is optional.
The verdict
Converter sites are utilities, like a tape measure: the best one is the one that is simply there, free, and does not ask who you are. That is the entire pitch for MP4 Downloader. Bookmark it, install it as an app if you like, and spend the subscription money on coffee.
