Why every player asks for MP4
TVs, phones, editors, upload forms, car screens: ask any of them what video format they want and the answer is the same. MP4 did not win by being the best at anything — it won by being good enough at everything, everywhere.

A container is an envelope, not the letter
MP4 is a container: a standard envelope that holds a video stream, one or more audio streams and subtitles in an arrangement every maker of players agreed to open. The picture quality lives in the streams inside — which is why two MP4s can look wildly different, and why “make it an MP4” is a compatibility promise, not a quality grade.
Why the whole world converged on one envelope
Phones record it, browsers play it natively, TVs decode it in hardware, and editors have imported it without complaint for two decades. Each of those facts makes the next one more likely: nobody ships a player that refuses the format everyone already has. On MP4 Downloader, that is why MP4 is the default destination for video conversions and the format downloads are standardised on for keeping copies.
When MP4 is honestly not the answer
For a website embedding its own video, WEBM is often smaller at the same quality. For an archive holding several audio languages and subtitle tracks, MKV is roomier. And none of those change the sending rule: the copy you give another person, another device or another app should be the MP4 — derive it from your master, keep the master as it was.
